Paris... and cheese.
I have always had a negative view of Paris ever since I was little. I saw the city as a place to hide away from your responsibilities. A place to go when you needed to escape real life. A place that was magic for all the wrong reasons. A place that made everything wrong, right.
I returned to Paris with my wonderful friends Yasmina, Kate and Juno beginning of 2016, just after the Brussels attacks happened. Needless to say, even though I was happy to see my girls, I was not completely at ease.
But lately I have found a new reason to go to Paris. And I seem to like going to Paris, I look forward getting off the Thalys in Paris Nord and discovering yet another piece of the city. Another bottle of wine, another foodie sweet spot or another bar by the Seine where I can sip my beer in peace. It has become a city of lingering hugs and consuming gazes.
So maybe Paris is a little bit magical, in a good way? Maybe I have discovered something here that I never knew I would find.
So what made me change my mind? I don't know, maybe it was the cheese, you guys.
i've been introduced to a very nice cheese shop in Paris. And good news! There's three of them around town! You can find them here:
Laurent Dubois - www.fromagelaurentdubois.fr
MAUBERT-MUTUALITE: 47 ter, Bd Saint-Germain - 75005 Paris
DUPLEIX: 2, Rue de Lournel - 75015 Paris
BASTILLE: 97-99, Rue Saint-Antoine - 75004 Paris
My favourites? The 24 month old comté and the camembert refined with calvados. But to be honest, I'm a cheese addict and would probably eat all the cheese.
Click on the photo's for them to slide to the next.
I will probably spend more time in Paris in the coming months so if you have any tips for me, let me know and I would love to visit and write about it. Especially when it's food and wine tips ;)
I'm going to get the cheeses out of the fridge and pour me some wine now. I'm going to enjoy this...
