Croissant Bake with Chocolate

Croissant Bake with Chocolate

Make. This. For. Brunch!

I swear these are so so so good and to be honest, can be made while you’re still half-asleep. Just make sure you get those oven mitts ready when you need to take the dish out of the oven.

Extra advantage: this dish makes your kitchen smell delicious!

What do you need? (4 small portions)

  • 4 croissants cut open horizontally (they can be day-old or fresh but I recommend day old)

  • 3 eggs

  • 100g ricotta

  • 100g fine sugar

  • 1 small sachet of vanilla sugar

  • 300ml milk

  • some marmelade

  • a handful of dark chocolate, smashed into smaller pieces. I used Côte d’Or Noir de Noir

What do you need to do?

Grease your oven dish with a little bit of butter. Place the halved croissants in the dish cut side up. They are allowed to overlap. Spread some marmelade on the croissants.

Whisk all the ingredients except the chocolate together. Add into the dish, over the croissants. Then leave in the fridge for 30minutes so the croissants can absorb the liquid.

Pre-heat the oven at 180°C.

When the croissants have absorbed most of the liquid, top with the pieces of chocolate.

Place in the oven and bake for 30 minutes.

Serve hot and enjoy as brunch or breakfast or even a dessert.
